I wish them luck. What I read by many cities is that they just do not have the manpower it would take to get the illegals in check. One major city I follow has over 1000 illegal places on the site.

And Air and those like it are moving forward in a fast pace. I read this am that one such site similar to Air has a working partnership with H yatt in London. The hotel chain is testing the market of providing luggage storage and mid day room use to travelers when they arrive in the city early and have to wait til their vacation rental is available.

And then there was this article which mainly speaks of U ber but does mention how fast Air has captured the business traveler. The article has some interesting charts on Air (at the bottom of the article) and how they are competing with hotels in some markets.

Do you find it odd that business travelers are flocking to air when they've avoided B&B's like the plague for years? Air is ostensibly a stay in someone's spare room. And all that entails of being in the midst of a family. Why were B&B's ignored for the same 'features' but with more amenities and more privacy?
OR, is there a whole new category on air for biz travelers that is for apartments and non-family accommodations?
Most biz guests who have contacted us have specifically wanted a quieter place where they didn't have to think about hordes of strangers in elevators and parking garages. But, a lot want to stay with their 'points' on their credit cards. They earn more points staying in the right hotel chain than with us. So maybe air has a deal with the credit card companies because they process so many cards.
Our guests this weekend only use Uber for biz travel because they say it is so cheap. And they've never stayed at a B&B before. The only reason they did stay (and not go to a hotel to use their points) was one member of the family booked here and simply told everyone else to do the same. (Big sister. Case closed!)

They could if they wanted to. Standard procedure is to first send a letter. Since it is generally a form, how hard can it be to notify someone, once they are uncovered? How many zoning officers does it take to...

The fines are usually large. Just set up a program to make it easy for motels, hotels & B&Bs to anonymously report them, and they could have a field day.

Can you just imagine that business traveller getting to an Air place?
No... I will not share the dog's towel
No... I will not sleep in that lumpy bed
When did you last wash those sheets?
Is turtle the only speed of Internet you have?
Can I print this 50 page document on your laser printer? You don't have a laser printer, it's inkjet? So, how long is that going to take?
etc.
