Warning to ALL!! Today I had e-mails "from" 2 people on this Forum (I also have them in my contacts and I am in theirs) that have a short message -
Check this out ___ (and there is a link in the blank)
DELETE this - do not go there. I have received this from others also but these 2 just today. Be aware!!

This must be the day. I got an email warning me (in the subject line) not to read anything sent by that person (an innmate here). So, I didn't read it. 2 messages later was an email newsletter from an inn that said, again in the subject line, that their email had been hacked.
So, I'm supposed to read this or not? Turns out the newsletter was just that, a newsletter, but why would anyone open it? (I didn't, I scanned it instead.)

Ugg! I have gotten those emails before usually from addresses in my email lists. If it was from me, it really wasn't

If there are any gurus in the gang, I have warned as many of the people in my contacts as possible, but now Yahoo isn't letting me send any emails from my computer or iPad. For some reason I can still send from iPhone.
I have already been completely through the troubleshooting for yahoo mail, changed my password, deleted all cookies and browsing history (on 2 browsers) run a full virus scan of the computer. I think all that's left is for me to go take a nap and hope it'll all be better in the am

One of them is me - I got it from another chat board - so please if you get anything from Erika or Arcady just trash it. I'm working on deleting all contacts but was not fast enough. Sorry

I think Yahoo stops us for 48 hours from sending emails to stop the problem. I'm thinking we will be able to send again after that time.

I got both of your emails so they were still getting thru earlier on today.

Very similar emails are coming from Facebook based connections. I often get email like those "check this out" followed by some non-sense link. The from name is from someone in your facebook friends group, but the email address is always something bogus as they can't get the person's actual email address from facebook.

Either I am completely out of the loop (which could be true) or Gmail is catching them before I even see one. (I'm now leaning towards out of the loop, though.)

To accurately assess these, mine are not coming into Gmail, but my inn mail. I don't have my inn mail on FB or LinkedIn or here. I have gmail. So I think it is a yahoo hacker. Has every one been from Yahoo thus far? I am not reading, just deleting. So I didn't notice.

The ones I have been getting seem to be in my one of my email lists. They were not coming to gmail until today :((( They are not all yahoo either, not from FB or this forum.... hackers are
