Getting permanent marker off things

I am in the middle of trying to get some permanent marker off a beige carpet. Hoping the tip in this video works I did the rubbing alcohol ... now to find or buy some hairspray

Rubbing alcohol works on mascara. I do know that!

Don't know about permanent marker, but I've used automotive brake cleaner in a spray can to remove certain spots in carpet.

Hairspray works on pen marks.

Automotive break cleaner does look after oil marks on sheets . Took of marks on my drapes also.
