My "new" website is almost ready to go live

No, generally that's not a SEO factor. It is simply good practice to hide the file extensions of your pages, as that doesn't add anything to the party table. Having .php at the end of URLs has zero benefits, but instead has some small disadvantages: 1. People need extra time to write your URLs...

Can't find: info about recipe plug in for WP

And I'll add this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/nutrition-facts-label/

Your WP website is under attack

You can see the same in Google Analytics Live View :) But yes, it is interesting sometimes to see how a live human being goes from one page to another, and then you see the checkout page and you cross your fingers :)

    I got my website finished!

In the WordPress community people sell themes from $20 up to $300, I don't think I've ever seen generally-available themes for over 300. The problem with the price is that historically the first developers were pricing their themes at $40-50, because very little support was provided, and most...

    I got my website finished!

And no, that website doesn't use the Metropolis theme from ThemeForest :) None of my themes are available on TF :)

My "new" website is almost ready to go live

I love the look of it! It's been a while since I've seen embedded fonts instead of the fonts available via Google Fonts, but it works out nicely. Loads quickly, light homepage, nice! But allow me a couple of suggestions: 1. The "Welcome to ..." headline on the homepage, make it a little...

    I got my website finished!

You can't imagine what a pleasure it is to read something like this :) But yes, I remember back in the day (~2003-2009) how long, difficult and expensive it was to build a website. Even when I was doing something very simple for myself, it still took ~2-3 weeks to get something out. And now...

    I got my website finished!

Thank you, but I haven't done anything for those websites, that's how the themes are the moment you install them (minus the logos and the content). And if someone wants to change something - they do it little by little, without actually breaking stuff or building from scratch :)

    I got my website finished!

Oh, OK, I'm glad to hear that what I saw was just for testing purposes and not the actual thing you wanted to keep :) In this case some of my points are no longer valid :)

Your WP website is under attack

Putting the /wp-admin/ behind HTTP authentication almost completely denies bad intentions. Something about it here: http://www.wpwhitesecurity.com/wordpress-security-hacks/securing-wordpress-wp-admin-htaccess/

    I got my website finished!

Looks like I'm late to the party, but I got something to say too (even though I might repeat what other people said before me): 1. Currently you have 11 slides in the homepage slideshow, which is way too much (speaking from experience). Some of these photos should not be there. If a photo is...

Your WP website is under attack

A good plugin to use is Wordfence: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordfence/ Other than that, there are a couple of manual actions to be taken, such as restrictions via .htaccess. Through it you can implement some security measures even before a page is called, be it WP or not. And of course many...

Do you have a press (media) kit on your website?

Indeed, keeping tangible (printed) copies of media mentions is a good way to remember the "old days". Something might seem unimportant today, but 2-3-5 years from now, when that paper, blog or blogger becomes an overnight hit, you might want to bask in its glory. This summer my family and I...

    Just Went Full Frontal

Wait... what? Why are all the elements in your header using "position: absolute;"? Why the absolute positioning, it is completely unnecessary. It only creates annoyance and difficulties with arranging the elements properly. You will always have difficulties with centering and will have to edit...

Do you have a press (media) kit on your website?

Yes, the Media page looks great, even if it doesn't provide downloadable media (I didn't spot any). But I guess the About page also fills in some blanks.

Do you have a press (media) kit on your website?

It really depends on the medium that you decide to use. Many simply make a .zip package with their photos, and if there are too many photos - simply create multiple .zips: interiors.zip, outside.zip, restaurant.zip, etc. Some create interactive galleries with download buttons for each photo...

Do you have a press (media) kit on your website?

I'm glad you found the article useful :) Some years ago I was running some travel directories and it was a real pain in the pooper to sometimes find the right information on hotel websites. The most ridiculous thing was when there was a script on the website blocking the right click of a mouse...

Do you have a press (media) kit on your website?

I wonder how many of you (especially in the US) actually provide press kits (press packages) to your visitors and any interested parties. To simplify, a press package is like a brochure, minus all the fancy talk. Facts, figures and photos. You might find this interesting (if I'm crossing the...

What do you expect from a family business?

Your replies are in the range that I expected them to be. It all corresponds to most of the views I have seen in one very nice article on this topic, using "family business" in your marketing. Do you people actually write "family business" on your websites, or is that understood from the context?
