    Finally!

This is what we’ve experienced — our realtor gets us in to see houses that are not yet listed, we make an offer the same day, oh sorry, too late.

    Hello! New Innkeepeers here!

    Thanks! It was time.

    Finally!

OMG! The packing! We didn’t think we had a lot of stuff, but the movers said they used every sticker on the roll that was assigned to our move — 500 stickers! We hadn’t realized we’d moved into every non-inn related space — the attic(s), the basement, the tool shed. Oh dear!

    Finally!

Yay! Good luck! We’ve been couch surfing trying to find a home. It’s not what I recommend. We’ve looked at twenty houses in three weeks and every one of them had some truly bizarre layout or problem and was about $100k over a realistic price. And then they sold.

How to antagonize Guests in 5 minutes flat

If that quote is true, how are the scammers winning the lawsuits for what they are calling non-compliant websites? If the whole act does not apply, how come these lawsuits have not been thrown out?

I guess Innspiring has surrendered to AirBnBs too

It’s never been a closed forum. It’s been so open that guests have found themselves being talked about. Thus why we suggest not using your real business info if you want to vent about a problem and are asking for solutions. You do need to log in to comment and to keep track of new posts, but...

I guess Innspiring has surrendered to AirBnBs too

I only became aware of this a few weeks ago. Do not know when it changed. As one of the founding members of the original innspiring, I’ll just say that when Steve did this he paid for it from the clicks to different product links. That was an untenable situation. Even tho the original crowd...

Got our first 1 star review!

Yeah, it stinks, but then you’ll get guests asking what was that all about and you tell a clever little story, make them laugh, and they think the one star guests are idiots and you’re the best thing since sliced bread!

    Photo Advice

Then I wouldn’t hire a professional now. It’s a big investment. Try looking around at any photos you like to see what makes them appealing. Usually lots of light really helps with dark corners. Even looking at real estate ads can help you decide what NOT to do. (We’ve been looking at property...

    Photo Advice

If you presently can’t afford or find anyone to take professional photos, or you are not finished making the property ‘whole’ you can do a heck of a lot with an iPad or a decent phone. Due to Covid, I took all the photos for the sale of our Inn instead of the broker paying to have a professional...

    Hello! New Innkeepeers here!

@Generic His going to the store everyday was his way to get out of the house. We only had the one fridge/freezer so it kind of had to happen anyway. He still does that. Goes to the store almost everyday for stuff for dinner. It’s easier now as it’s close enough to walk where we’re living.

    Hello! New Innkeepeers here!

Yeah, you know Gomez, everything takes longer for him. It’s an hour just to go to the store everyday. Then an hour to cut up the fruit. An hour and a half to serve. An hour to clean up.

    Hello! New Innkeepeers here!

@MoosewoodInn Ah, you are not serving food. Big difference. Food service and all the prep and cleanup takes about five hours everyday.

    Booking sites

OTA is Online Travel Agent. To use tripconnect you have to have your own reservation system, not just Airbnb listing. I think most people on here have between 3 and 20+ rooms they operate everyday. No downtime allowed!😉 However, we all operate how we’re comfortable.

    Booking sites

Definitely look at getting your own reservation system! You’ll be amazed! Ask questions here, there are a lot of good systems out there that do not cost an arm and a leg. We used ReservationKey. For our size b&b (7 rooms) it was $35/month. There are a few add ons that cost additional, but can...

    Hello! New Innkeepeers here!

@MoosewoodInn if your parents want to kill themselves working all the time, they can. You might want a different life. 😉 AND, you can look at it as supporting the local economy! (We did it all on our own the first year. 7 rooms, open year round.) When I realized during our second summer that I...

    Right to refuse service list?

Gomez used to look at his watch and gasp, ‘I have to leap into action!’ then he walked away. You could be in the middle of a conversation, didn’t matter, off he went.

    Room Names

How funny! I was just going to say don’t name the rooms colors because then you can’t change the decor! Our place started out with color names and what the room was previously or where it was located (Parlor, Back Room, BrassRoom, etc). The next owners opted to change to the names of the people...

    Hello! New Innkeepeers here!

Welcome! We just retired after 17 years. Hire help! Having someone else do the cleaning makes your life more pleasant. Send the laundry out if possible. Do you close in the winter, or open all year? If you close then it is possible to barrel through the peak season, but you’ll be tired all the...

    Right to refuse service list?

Perfectly ok to have a ‘DNB’ (do not book) list. My list included people who smoked in the room and then cheerfully stood in the hallway and listened to another guest yelling at me about the smoke smell in their room. Another one was a guest who wrote multiple bad reviews because I wouldn’t let...
